Apartments for sale in Lenox Hill

Lenox Hill

Lenox Hill is comprised of the lower section of the Upper East Side that borders Midtown. The neighborhood is named for the hill that stood at what became 70th Street and Park Avenue. The name “Lenox” is that of the Scottish merchant Robert Lenox (1759-1839). For many years an elevated rail line ran up and down Third Avenue, which was demolished in the 1950s. This quickly led to the redevelopment of Third Avenue with high-rise luxury apartment buildings. New York Hospital and Rockefeller University occupy most of the neighborhood’s East River waterfront. The closer you get to the park, the more expensive the neighborhood gets, with renowned restaurants, boutiques, art galleries and hotels along Madison Avenue. The area is serviced by the green subway lines (4, 5, 6) and the F on 63rd street along Lexington Avenue. Lenox Hill’s beauty and proximity to Central Park and Midtown offices make it an attractive place to live.
